Data & privacy already covers the guarantee this page walks you through: closing your account doesn't silently destroy work. Here's what actually happens, step by step.

Steps

1. Cancel your subscription — see Manage billing's Billing Portal link. This is what moves your tenant into the decommissioning state; nothing is torn down yet.
2. Export your data first, if you want a copy — see Export your data. Do this before step 3 if there's anything you'd want to keep.
3. Watch for the danger banner. Once your tenant is decommissioning, your Dashboard shows a banner on every page naming your Stack's slug.
4. If the banner asks you to confirm: type your Stack's slug exactly into the field (this only enables once it matches) and click Destroy. This step only becomes necessary if your Stack is currently holding an Unshipped attempt — check ThreadsList for a thread flagged Unshipped if you're unsure — since destruction otherwise refuses to proceed until you've explicitly said you want to go ahead anyway. If your Stack holds no Unshipped work, teardown proceeds on the control plane's own next pass with no further action from you, and the banner simply stays up until it's gone.

Once destroyed, the banner (and your Stack) disappears — this step is irreversible.
